A 12 km railway tunnel currently under construction is designed with an undergroundrnstation allowing trains to pass through the station at full speed; 250 km/h. To the authorsrnknowledge this is roughly twice the speed of normal passages through existing enclosedrnstations. The paper describes work done to reduce draft and pressure discomfort forrnpassengers waiting on the station. Especially, it is the effect of sudden pressure changesrnon “unaware” people on the platforms that has been the focus. Use of pressure shafts andrnextended portals are evaluated, and it is suggested to include both measures.
