The standards EN12101-3:2002 and ISO21927-3:2006 define the design criteria andrntesting methodologies necessary to verify that a range of tunnel ventilation equipment isrncapable of extracting hot gasses in the event of fire. A requirement to comply withrnEN12101-3:2002 within Europe and ISO21927-3:2006 outside Europe has driven fanrnmanufacturers, specifiers and consultants to work together to ensure that tunnelrnventilation system design and the ventilation equipment within that design comply withrntheir regulatory requirements. This paper describes the challenges associated with therndefinition and certification of a pre-defined range of ventilation equipment suitable forrnapplication in tunnel ventilation systems.
