Future spacemissions will require vast amounts of data tornbe stored and processed aboard spacecraft. While satisfyingrnoperational mission requirements, storage systemsrnmust guarantee data integrity and recover damaged datarnthroughout the mission. NAND-flash memories have becomernpopular for space-borne high performance massrnmemory scenarios, though future storage concepts willrnrely upon highly scaled flash or other memory technologies.rnWith modern flash memory, single bit erasure codingrnand RAID based concepts are insufficient. Thus, arnfully run-time configurable, high performance, dependablernstorage concept, requiring a minimal set of logicrnor software. The solution is based on composite erasurerncoding and can be adjusted for altered mission durationrnor changing environmental conditions.
