A two dimentional numerical simulation code intended for non-linear electromagnetic field analysis has been developed using the finite element method for an Alternating Current Magnetic Flux Leakage Testing system (AC-MFLT). Suitable analysis conditions are determined in order to promote accuracy and reduce calculation time. To demonstrate the validity of this code, experimental results are compared with numerical ones and they show good agreement. Furthermore, in order to investigate characteristics of inspection noise, magnetic flux leakage from the area which has different magnetic properties on the specimen's surface is calculated. Based on this analytical results and experimental ones, it is revealed that increasing magnetization is effective to suppress the inspection noise.
