Research on driving comfort for Chinese people has just started. This paper presents the results of our experiments on driving posture from which a digital model of driving comfort has been developed. The experiment was concerned with identifying the relations between human body joint comfort and driving posture. It aimed at deciding the key design elements influencing car drive comfort in order to determine which elements have the most important influence on the joints of a human body in the Chinese populations. Based on the data obtained from the experiments, we have developed a digital driving posture model with design rules and calculation methods, to be used as the guidance on the design for driving comfort.
