The electrochemical reduction of 1-Cl-4-X-phthalazines (X = H, Cl, AlkS, ArS, AlkO, ArO), 7-Cl-5-R-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4]phthalazines (R = CH_3, CH_2Cl, C_6H_4OCH_(3-p), CF_3) in aprotic solvent proceeds with pyridazine ring opening and the formation of nitrile. The initial anion radicals are detected for the symmetric 1,4-bisalkoxy-, bisphenoxy-, bisalkylthio- and bisphenilthiophthalazines but the heterocyclic ring opening was not found out. The process of electrochemical reduction of 1,4-dichloropyridazine, 2,3-dichloroquinoxalin proceeds with step-by-step elimination of both chlorine atoms with formation of unsubstituted heterocycles. The irreversible reduction of 3,4-dichloro-1,2,5-thiadiazole leads to disintegration of heterocycle and formation of four inorganic ions. The reduction of 3-X-4-Y-1,2,5-thiadiazole (X = Cl, OAr, Y = H, OAr, morpholine, piperidine) results in elimination of the substituents from a position 3 and in opening of thiadiazole cycle with the formation of iminonitrile.
