Additional to experimental work on heat transfer and flow structure, the influence of the wall zone on radiative transfer is investigated with a model based on the two flux assumption comp. Glatzer (1). It is shown that the radiative heat transfer depends strongly on the temperature gradient towards the wall and that for typical CFB densities the wall zone becomes optically thick at values higher than 30 mm.
