The paper gives a short description of the subgrade types as well as existing types ofrncapping layers in Romania.rnThe paper also presents the way in which the capping layers of different thickness influence thernstrain and stress condition of pavement layers and implicitly, the bearing capacity of the constructionrntraffic.rnThe design is made for two road pavements systems currently used at road construction in Romania,rna flexible pavement with sub-base of granular materials, and a semi-rigid pavement, with subbasernof natural aggregates stabilized with cement.
