In order to propose new measures for recycling copper from iron-copper mixed scraps, we have tried to remove Cu from the iron-copper alloys by applying an idea based on the two liquid phases separation between iron-rich liquid phase and copper-rich liquid phase in Fe-C-Cu system at elevated temperatures. Since there have been so far few information on the phase relations in the Fe-C-Cu system, the phase equilibria have been investigated in the above Fe-C-Cu alloy by using various kinds of thermodynamic information with some experimental results of the phase relations. In addition, we have examined the two liquid phases separation behavior to find an effective technique for the removal of Cu-rich phase from the other phase.
