Abstract: Some possibilities of laser processing of natural stones were evaluated and the laser irradiation parameters suited for the following materials removal and melting processes were examined. 1) Surface roughening of granite, 2) Cutting of marble after water immersion, 3) Drilling of holes in natural stones for locating metal fittings, and 4) Surface melting and glazing of soft stones. !3
