Variable valve technique can significantly improve thernperformance of the automobile engine and reduce pollutionrnemission by varying valve timing, valve duration and valvernlift. Variable valve system which is based on electrohydraulicrndrive has the advantages of better stability, lowrnnoise and simple structure.rnIn this paper, a variable valve system which is based onrnelectro-hydraulic drive is introduced. In this system, a fastrnresponse proportional pressure reducing valve is used tornthrottle the high-pressure and low-pressure fluid. The fluidrndischarged from the proportional pressure reducing valverndrives the piston of the single-acting cylinder and the pistonrndrives the valve. One valve spring is used to close the valve.rnValve timing and valve lift can be controlled by varying therninput signal of the proportional pressure reducing valve.rnThe component, structure and working principle of electrohydraulicrncontrol system are discussed in this paperrnrespectively. The key system parameters are studied throughrnthe simulation. Finally, we carried out some experiments onrnthe established test rig. The results of the experiment showrnthat the system can meet the need of the engine whosernmaximal speed is 1500rpm.
