RNase A unimer was conjugated with two N-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide (HPMA) copolymers forming classic and star conjugates. Their antitumor effects both in vitro and in vivo were tested. Unlike the wild bovine pancreatic ribonuclease (RNase A), both polymer conjugates injected intraperitoneally or intravenously displayed a potent antitumor activity in nude mice bearing human melanoma. On the contrary, their cytotoxic activity tested on various tumor cell lines was very low.
