摘要

This paper presents recent developments in the design of high rise residential accommodation in Hong Kong. The role of government, and the business community is reviewed to explore how innovative design is being encouraged within the sector. There then follows a case study of the design of a Homo Ownership Scheme public housing development, which incorporates innovative features aimed at addressing many of the problems associated with high density living in an urban environment. The case study demonstrates the strong emphasis that has been placed by Hong Kong people on providing affordable, environmentally responsible, and socially sustainable housing and how this can be realised through an innovative and integrated approach to architectural and engineering planning and design.
