The paper describes experiments which were made at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Brno University of Technology. Short- and long-term experiments are dealt with. The short-term experiments serve as a base for design of strengthening. The long-term experiment investigates the influence of time on the strengthened elements and on the changes in their behaviour. The short-term experiment presents series of the tests of concrete specimens, on which distinct lengths of CFRP glued reinforcement were applied. These specimens demonstrate the behaviour of the reinforcing element under tension and the adhesion between individual layers in the reinforcement area. Strains of the reinforcement are recorded together with the mode of failure of the specimens. For the long-term experiments failed RC floor panels were used. The panels were subsequently strengthened with several different types of reinforcement (CFRP strips, carbon and glass fabric). Already reinforced floor panels were stored and exposed to the long-term loading at different levels. Another factor affecting the behaviour of these panels was climatic conditions. The results of the experiments have shown that the deformations and deflections caused by the temperature changes have a reversible character. The evaluation of the measured values is given.
