Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) are the most important Industrial application of Information Technology in Mechanical Engineering fields. "FMS are computers with many sophisticated hands working in a co-ordinated, well balanced fashion" enabling the implementation of the CIM concepts on the shop floor, and as consequence achieving a batch size, which can be as low as one, and a highly effective and productive Manufacturing method which can cope with the dynamically changing product life cycle of different products. CIM is concerned with providing computer assistance, control and high level integrated automation at all levels of Manufacturing Industries, by linking Islands of Automation (FMC and FMS) into a distributed processing system. The Manufacturing facilities involved in CIM System are FMS, So the FMS is the CIM on the shop floor. Various Manufacturing Flexibilities are the heart of FMS. Literature study shows that there are 30 types of different flexibilities associated with FMS. Measurement or quantification of these Flexibilities are also the performance measure of FMS. In this article, Machine Flexibility of an existing FMS is measured by Multiple Levels of Flexibility Measurement Method.
