This paper reviews aspects of fixture design in the past and it reveals the current development and new trends in computer-aided fixture design(CAFXD), and proposes directions for future research initiatives. Modular fixturing Systems have been given prior importance and their advantages have been listed out. In this paper fixture analysis is carried out with due consideration satisfying Kinematic restraint, total restraint, and tool path clearance requirements.
