This paper establishes the analysis theory in time domain and numerical method about the motion response of the multi-body system with a floating base in ocean wave, and develops corresponding computation program by applying both potential flow theory on the interaction between a body and flow-field in time domain and multi-body dynamics method. By means of the kinematic rules of the generic mechanics and the mechanical judge methods of the traffic accident at present, the calculation method of the motion response of the upside moving load units on the floating base is analysed. A ship-model experiment of the multi-body system with a floating base in towing tank is contrasted with the result of the numerical simulation analysis, and the motion response of the multi-body system with a floating base, which caused by common effect of ocean wave and moving load units on the floating base, is investigated. Some conclusions have been drawn that the upside heavy load units perhaps swag (list or turn over), slip or slip after having turned over on the floating base following the floating base swaying or swinging continually, and the motion of the several free slipping heavy load units may trend to be synchronous, and so on. These regularities about the motion response of the multi-body system with a floating base in ocean wave are summed up, and they can be applied to engineering.
