Spring systems are the execution parts of switching electrical apparatus, whose contacts breaking and closing in operation time make the process of electrical contacts more complex. The contact displacement response will directly influence electrical contact process in mechanical vibration. Therefore affect the contact reliability of switching electrical apparatus. This paper built up the equivalent mathematic model of spring systems by introducing local contact rigidity and using Hertz theory, then the non-linear contact system was equivalent to two-degree-freedom system in harmonic analysis, the reasonable criterion of spring systems keeping mechanical contact status was presented. To this end, displacement response of some type electromagnetic relay was simulated with variable size parameters and contact position. Simulation results confirmed the validity and efficiency of the proposed modal and relevant theory analysis. The conclusions are instructive for increasing vibration resistance of switching electrical apparatus with breaking and closing contacts.
