This exploratory study examines the extent to which the Chinese tourism service industry promotes responsible behaviour by the tourists who visit World Heritage Sites (WHS) in China. Tourism brochures produced by the travel service industry are examined using a content analysis technique. The conclusion focuses on the implications of the design of the promotional brochures for responsible behaviour by tourists when visiting the WHS.
