摘要

The North-East Arctic cod stock varies in quality and availability with feeding status and sexual maturity. In Norwegian coastal waters the two main seasons are; sexually mature cod in Lofoten (January to April) and younger and immature cod feeding on capelin (Mallotus villosus) at the coast of Finnmark (May to August). The latter category, "Capelin cod", has a very poor processing quality due to a loose muscle structure. The fish consequently give low yields in medhanical operations like filleting or splitting.
