摘要

After completing pavement works, the surface characteristics of the finished pavement are inspected according to the contract specifications. Specified surface characteristics are skid resistance, water conductivity, longitudinal and transverse evenness, and tyre rolling noise. These are related to user safety and comfort as well to maintain a healthy environment along roadside habitats. After opening to traffic, periodic monitoring of the above characteristics and any other damage is conducted in order to check whether the pavement is sound or needs to e repaired by referring to the threshold of each unit and/or a global index. This paper presents current trends of surface course materials, measuring equipment and methods, and correlation between indices and related evaluation considering user requirements and environmental issues.
