摘要

In highways, accidental collisions against the rear-end of maintenance vehicles occur oftenrndue to the delay of the discovery of the maintenance vehicles. Many of accidents occur in thernnighttime. If drivers can recognize the presence of the maintenance vehicle from a sufficientlyrnlong distance, considerable cases of accidents may be prevented. By considering visual characteristicsrnof drivers in the nighttime, we propose a new display method for variable signboardsrnequipped on maintenance vehicles. Through a series of experiments we confirmedrnconspicuously high visibility of the method.
