The coolign configuration investigated in this paper is a turbine guide vane with showerhead jejection through two rows of cooling holes, one row on the suction side and the other on the pressure side, in the vicinity of the stgnation line. The interaction of the cooling gas ejection and the main flow at the leading edge is investigated in detail. Within a secondary flow analysis it can be shown that complex vortex systems are formed in the cooling fluid jets. These vortex systems include the kidney vortices which lead to single cooling jets along the entire vane, instead of forming a continuous cooling film.
