Employing YBCO powder as the starting materials instead ofusual metal acetates, we could successfully fabricate epitaxialYBa2Cu3O7-x(YBCO) films on SrTiO3 (100) and LaAlO3 (100)single-crystal substrates by the metalorganic deposition of trifluoroacetateprecursors (TFA-MOD). After the first heat treatment up to 400oC, theprecursor films were composed of BaF2, CuO, and Y2O3 phases. YBCOfilms fired at the temperature range of 750~800oC for 2 h exhibited Tcvalues of 89-91K. The largest JC of 0.94 MA/cm2 was obtained from asingle-coated YBCO film on (100) LaAlO3 substrate fired at 775oC. Theseresults indicate that expensive metal acetates can be replaced by much lessexpensive YBCO powder.
