In May 2002, the ministry of agriculture of China held a national conservation tillage convention inShanxi province, which formally started the project of conservation tillage. For almost three years, theimplementation of the project has gone smoothly, making an positive progress.Conservation tillage in China has repressed wind and water erosion effectively, fertilizing soil, savingproduction cost, increasing crop yield, accelerating the farm’s earning increment effectively.The implement ation of the project has widely launched popularization and application of the conservationtillage in the North China, encouraging farmers to change the traditional tillage, creating new opportunities forthe development of the related agriculture machinery manufactures, triggering the innovation of themarketable and social service in the agriculture mechanization.At present, conservation tillage in China is in the initial stage of demonstration and extension, but has abright development future.
