The authors will discuss the technologies and methods for integrating Unmanned Aerial Systems into the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) mission to develop a fire control quality track to support the shoot-look-shoot doctrine; this discussion will include the unique communications constraints on a UAS operating in support of the BMDS mission. Further, the authors will discuss the employment of UAS with current sensors and deployed manned ground and aerial systems in U.S., International, and Treaty airspace and recovery areas. Finally, the authors will present an option to use a UAS Common Control System as an aid to the development of a fire control quality track to support the shoot-look-shoot doctrine of the missile defense mission.
