Looking at work and family responsibilities in China, this study examines several antecedents and job-related outcomes associated with work interference with family (WIF) and family interference with work (FIW). Using multiple regression to analyze data collected from a sample of professionals in China, results showed that work schedule flexibility was a significant predictor of FIW. Concerns over negative career impact were significant predictors of WIF and FIW. Gender was not a significant predictor of any variables. Both forms of conflict were significant predictors of stress and neither predicted absenteeism or turnover intentions. Limitations and suggestions for future studies are discussed.
