The performance of a new device (flow through-PSICAM) for the continuous measurement of spectral absorption coefficients has been evaluated. Furthermore, during several cruises in 2010 and 2011, the relationship of absorption and fluorescence measurements to the chlorophyll-a concentration in the water is described.
