There are differences in the calls of different individuals of western black crested gibbon, which is the result of their active adjustment to improve ability to distinguish groups by voice. In this paper, the acoustic feature of adult male individual vocalization are analyzed and tested by a clustering algorithm, and an effective method for investigating population quantity is proposed. The experiments and analysis show that there are two groups of western black crested gibbon in the monitoring area, which is consistent with the field survey result, and the adult male individuals of the adjacent groups have greater differences in vocalization.
