A method of synthesis of C_nML_2 complexes (M = Pd, Pt; n=60, 70) from stable ML_2Cl_2 compounds is proposed using the approach, in which the starting complexes are reduced by electrochemically generated C_n~(2-) anions to yield corresponding zero-valent complexes and neutral fullerene, which then react to yield the target C_nML_2 complexes.
