摘要

The International Space Station ISS includes different docking and berthing mechanisms in the present configuration. Four different mechanisms are used for the attachment of the modules, two types in the Russian side based on the Probe cone concept and two types in the USA side of the peripheral type. This paper analyzes the differences between each concept and the advantages and drawbacks of them focusing in the development of a new docking and berthing concept for future missions and vehicles.
