摘要

This study is a further analysis of workplace stress comparing NHS nurses with different occupational groups. The study had three main aims: (1) to compare the effects of demand-control-support conditions, effort-reward imbalance and job satisfaction on work stress in nurses and other occupational groups; (2) to compare the effect of stress on mental health outcomes in nurses and other groups; and (3) to examine the effects of confounding variables on stress levels. The results supported previous studies showing that stress levels were higher for nurses than the general population. Nurses reported higher demands and higher levels of extrinsic effort. However, nurses reported higher job satisfaction than other workers. Other groups of workers experienced higher levels of anxiety and depression than nurses.
