Due to the need to be a sustainable educational institution, the Emiliano Zapata Technological University undertook the task of analyzing the energy consumption of its facilities to determine which of its buildings has the greatest expenditure of electrical energy. With the development of a low-cost device for the analysis of the quality of the power lines signals, it is possible to create strategies in order to reduce energy consumption at the University. It is for this reason that the general objective of this manuscript is to select and implement a system for monitoring electrical parameters. To achieve this, a search for electronic devices (sensors and programmable digital devices) was proposed, in order to select the most appropriate one. To this end, experimental tests were carried out on the selected devices in order to develop a data acquisition card based on low-cost embedded systems. In addition, an intuitive user interface was designed through the use of an HMI (Human Machine Interface). This helped to interact with the digital device and graphically display the electrical parameters obtained.
