摘要

This paper discusses some of the challenges faced today by standardization groups developing guidance and performance standards to support the routine integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) in national airspaces. Initial national or multi-national efforts have generated misaligned roadmaps with limited and informal harmonization. The mounting pressure to timely deliver performance standards for implementation is now adding to the original organizational challenges. While there is no single correct path to achieve the long-term objective of routine integration, there is room for improvement on the short-term effort and need for better preparedness to address the difficulties pushed just beyond the line of sight.
