This paper complements the first TOMMS publication [1] and aims to explain the implementation of the conceptual framework in more detail. It addresses the issue of interdisciplinary synergies, between foreign language lessons and content subjects, in technical Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), is addressed. Firstly, the theory behind the implemented approaches and methodologies, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Blended Learning (BL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL), is explained. Subsequently, through the Topic Oriented Mixed Methods System (TOMMS) [2], it lays out the conceptual framework of the integrated approach before finally applying it to two lectures, in the School of Engineering of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, with curriculum examples, whilst addressing some critical issues that need to be taken into consideration when planning and executing interdisciplinary teaching; how to fully involve the learner and ensure that they are able to follow the materials. Finally, some possible limitations and complications are discussed.
