Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia is the most common cause of hemolysis in dogs. It may be primary(idiopathic), also known as autoimmune hemolytic anemia(AIHA), or may be secondary associated with a variety of other diseases such as infections, cancer, and exposure to chemicals. During the previous session the immunologic basis of AIHA was described. During this panel discussion we will review the clinical features and diagnostic test results of AIHA and address controversies in the diagnosis of autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
