摘要

In this paper, China, South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand are examined to assess the prospects for consumption, production and trade in dairy products, meat and livestock and its effect on feed demand, with particular reference to pulses. Rapid incomegrowth and high population growth in many Asian countries have led to rapid increases in food consumption particularly of livestock products. Some of the increase has been met by expanding domestic production, which has led to significant increases in the demand for feedgrains and protein meals. With an emphasis on production of food crops, their capacity to expand feed production is limited and feed imports are expected to rise.
