With two computational examples we compare the Galerkin and Collocation method for solving the time harmonic Helmholtz equation for three dimensional radiation and scattering problems. Based on a prescribed error level we compare the computational effort for the two methods. Further more we are investigating the problem of choosing the collocation points to obtain more accurate numerical results.
