The traffic increasing on public roads, as a result of the continuous increment of transport means together with the displacement speed and useful load raise (maximum authorized mass) have required more and more strict conditions as for the braking system, in view of ensuring the road transport safety. Therefore, the vehicle manufacturers must be continuously concerned with equipping the respective transport means with as possible as efficient braking installations. In comparison with trucks, the tractor-trailer system (as a relevant agricultural vehicle) raises one of the most difficult problems concerning the braking system. This happens because the mass of the loaded trailer is, usually twice bigger than the tractor mass and, when the trailer braking installation is less efficient than the tractor's one or if an appropriate correlation between tractor braking and trailer braking doesn't exist, then some dangerous interactions between the tractor and the trailer can appear, generating serious traffic accidents. The tractor braking installation is relatively complexes manufactured, having a great importance on assuring the traffic and road transport safety, especially under the conditions in which the maximum manufacturing speed has increased - in compliance with Directive 97/54/CE, from 30 km/h to 40 km/h. Moreover, if we take into account that, since the 1st July 2005 has come into effect the Directive 2003/37/CE according to which the agricultural or forestry wheeled tractor maximum speed can surpass 40 km/h, without having settled any maximum speed limit, the relevance of braking system is more and more important. According to statistics, the tractor as energetic source has a contribution of 70% within the agricultural work process. Thus, it is important to assure a high quality product and for its verification there are some technical conditions which agricultural and forestry wheeled tractors have to comply with, in order to permit their access on public roads. In the conditions of the more and more strict requirements for creating safe and high quality products, it appears the necessity of developing performant measuring and testing techniques of the tractor braking process, in order to evaluate their conformity according to the Unique Market requirements. Therefore, the tractor braking system as well as the connection of braking system with the trailer must comply with the European Directive in the field.
