Murashige and Skoog (MS) media strength plus different concentrations of BA and photoperiod were studied for their effects on cotyledon explant growth and in vitro perfomance in sweet pepper (Capsicum annum L.) cultivars. California Wonder, Camelot,and King Arthur were grown on both half strength and full strength MS media. For each medium strength treatment, seeds of tested cultivars were also incubated in darkness for lOd and transferred to a 16h photoperiod for 4 days or placed at a 16h photoperiod for 14 days. Plantlets were measured to ascertain if proper cotyledon growth was obtained (0.5-1.0 cm). The cotelydon explants were then cultured on MS basal medium supplimented with different concentrations of BA to investigate contyledon explants'in vitro performance. It was found that seed germination in full strength MS media incubated in darkness for 10 days and transferred to a 16h photoperiod for 4 days generated adequate cotyledon.
