This chapter aims to briefly summarize the background and evidence base for adjunct psychosocial treatments of schizophrenia, with special emphasis on the program of research carried out in Manchester. The research of family interventions and cognitive-behavioral therapy is outlined. It is concluded that there is good evidence for the efficacy of both family intervention and cognitive-behavioral therapy and that their use should become part of established practice in the management of patients suffering from schizophrenia.
