HNIW and ADN are new energetic charges for smokeless, low vulnerability and low polluting propellants. Thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, thermal diffusivity measurements are used to get thermal and kinetic constants of these charges and their degradations. The linear pyrolysis method under vacuum is applied to the study of the condensed phase degradation from these charges. This method provides the propellant regression while completely quenching the gas phase reactions. The condensed phase degradation produces mainly nitrogenated gaseous species (and only from HNIW, complementary hydrocarbon species) which are analyzed by mass spectrometry. Various solid residues are analyzed and identified by infrared spectrometry and elemental analysis. Three types of combustion experiments, such as temperature profile from very fine thermocouples imbedded in the sample giving the regression surface temperature, the slope in the gas phase and sometimes the flame temperature, such as regression under laser fluxes giving the ignition delay and such as combustion rate measurements by the ultra sonic method, are giving well fitted combustion laws of theses propellant compounds. All these results are compared with those extracted from the literature. They complete the knowledge of the complex phenomena, related to these charges, occurring during the propellant combustion.
