摘要

Allergen specific immunotherapy is a rapidly advancing field. The development and validation of long-term efficacy and safety of sublingual allergen immunotherapy represents a completely new development in this field. With new treatment options available for the treatment of both allergic asthmatic and rhinitic patients, new guidelines are appropriate. Several recent international guidelines have reviewed the evidence for sublingual and subcutaneous immunotherapy1-2 and clearly indicate that sublingual immunotherapy has a wide application for treatment of mild to moderate asthmatics and patients with allergic rhinitis, beyond the specialised allergy centres, because of the safety of these vaccines.
