Exactly modeling of a marine engine with anti-shock isolation system is an important step by its design. For an isolation system with some rigid stops, the engine can be modeled as a rigid body and isolators as springs and dampers, for which 3 non-linearity exist. This paper is aimed at that weather the non-linearity can be neglected? In this paper, the marine engine with anti-shock isolation system is firstly suggested as a vibro-impact system to study. In this paper an approximate discrete model described by impact Poincare map can be derived. Analysis of example shows that 0-order approximate model conceals possible chaotic phenomenon; simultaneously, installation position of stops can influences bifurcation area in bifurcation diagram.
