摘要

A prospective study to compare the neuropsychological outcome of surgical versus endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms. Twenty-five patients were treated surgically and 23 by interventional therapy. Standardized neuropsychological and personality tests were employed to assess cognitive and personality functions. One year postoperatively only performance in WAIS-III subtests Digit Symbol-Coding, Picture Arrangement and Index Score Processing Speed were different in favor of the surgical group. Other cognitive and personality variables did not differ between the two groups. The differences in neuropsychological assessment of the patients treated by either coiling or clipping were small and slightly in favor of the surgical group.
