A new formula for calculating the output of bucket wheel excavators (BWE) according to specific digging forces is presented. The mathematical model uses the energy consumption of the bucket wheel. The output calculation model will be integrated in a VR simulation of bucket wheel excavation process to increase confidence in the results and allow cross checks with the real situation in the pit (e.g. comparison GPS data).
