There have been a number of reports on the syntheses and reactivity of mononuclear platinum(II) complexes with tertiary phosphine ligands. In particular, mononuclear platinum(II) complexes with tertiary phosphine ligands have been studied by many research groups and, for example, syntheses and structures of the platinum-acetylide complexes, trans-[Pt(Ar~1C≡C)(Ar~2C≡C)(PPh3)2] (Ar~1 = Ph, Ar2 = C6H4NO2-4; Ar~1 = Ar~2 = C6H4NH2-4) were reported recently. On the other hand, arylboronic acids have been employed as a convenient source of aryl groups in synthetic organic reactions catalyzed by Pd, Rh, Ni and Pt complexes.
