The elements of a smart hybrid power system include a smart battery, a smart generator, and a smart capacitor. These components are in wireless communication with each other to effect the distribution of power such that available battery capacity is maximized. Addition of a capacitor increases the available capacity from the battery. The key component of the system is a highly integrated micro controller that includes wireless communication and 32 bit processing. The controller is capable to survive as integral part of the battery in the acid environment and can access all cell voltages without changes in the design of the battery cover. Finally, the hybrid system can manage heat production in the battery cells through internal resistance heating.
