The German Health and social system is located in a fundamental process of change and modernisation that also concerns the health professions and their qualification. Reorganisation and change concern the historical grown structures and regulation systems of social security, their standards and values and the institutional and professional organisation. This process is connected with social, especially demographic and economic changes that are characterized by increasing life expectancy, aging and decreasing birth rates, singulari-sation of life forms, differentiation of social relations, ethnical plurality and interculturality, chronicle impairments, expansion of helping systems. There is a growing influence of international interconnections, globalisation and migration on the further development.
