Nerve block is one of the therapeutic means for chronic pain. In this study, we report the effect of sensory nerve blocks for chronic pain in our pain clinic of Kurume University Hospital. Subjects and methods: We defined chronic pain simply as " pain persisted for more than 6 months". Subjects were new patients referred to our pain clinic from January 1999 to December 2004, whose pain persisted more than 6 months and also whose treatment period was more than one month. We investigated retrospectively the rates and effects of sensory nerve block for chronic pain by referring clinical records. We considered it "effective sensory nerve block", when the chronic pain resolved mainly by sensory nerve blocking. Epidural block was included to sensory nerve block.
